Excitement within the BGR camp has grown as Cool Clue broke his maiden on Saturday. Going off as the 2/1 co-favorite, he sat 2nd off a runaway 70/1 and cruised to the lead on the backside and never looked back, providing BGR their first win of 2010.
Colonel Klink hopefully makes his 4 year old debut and return to the races at Tampa on Saturday February 20th. We are hoping his campaign starts strong in what should be a very productive year. He has actually filled out and muscled up what was already a massive frame and at the very least, will be the most intimidating horse in the race!
Albin also runs on Friday in what is his 3rd start of the year. His last race, a 4th on the dirt, came as a surprise and should have him razor sharp. Time to break your maiden big guy.
Keeneland's condition book came out a couple days ago and both Klink and Albin have races circled, hopefully they can progress and make it happen.
Rochelle Rochelle and Richwood Silver both put in what we are considering puzzling performances. Rochelle came out of the race a little banged up and will point towards a March 5th start. We are still evaluating Richwood but we are targeting a race on Feb 27th if everything checks out for her.
Big Shake ran a surprising 6th the other day at Tampa in an off the turf effort. He was making a middle move until he got stopped cold and unable to sustain the rally. More importantly he was engaged early on which has been a bit of an issue, and he should relish a return to the lawn and some more distance, which comes up on March 6th at Tampa.
Gondorf continues to be a horse that we have to take baby steps with, both physically and mentally. Over his minor issue he has been training and there is hope of an late March start on the Tampa lawn. Mizz Liza has been given 60 days off and will start training again when they arrive back at Arlington.
Appoint and Graphite Halo continue to progress towards their 4 year old debut. Appoint will be racing primarily at Indiana Downs and Hoosier Park, and Graphite Halo will be shipping to Philadelphia Park to run there, Delaware Park (5/24 is perfect spot for her), and hopefully the NY circuit.
Top Royelle produced her first foal in downstate Illinois on Sunday, a big Dehere filly. Both mare and foal are doing good and both will ship back to Arundel Farm in Paris, KY by the end of February.
The 2 year olds (Mr Mojo Risin, The Magic Bus, Surfer Rosa, Prospect Knight) are all moving forward on a day to day basis. Both Mojo and Rosa will most likely ship up to Arlington with Chuck's regular string in Mid April. Bus and Knight will arrive early to mid May. All have grown like you would like them to and filled out. Rosa should be early, Mojo is a sharp looking individual, Bus has all the class in the world and Knight is kinda like high school pitcher with the 84 MPH fastball but is more focused on the basketball cheerleaders and doing beer bongs.
Just some more characters to add to what is already an interesting group of personalities.
